That's entirely possible, but I haven't even heard of the natives dying here. Though, having certain protections given to us that have to do with being from another world could be the case-after all, if beings who weren't human before coming here can be transformed into humans upon arrival, there's nothing saying that even humans' bodies are altered upon arrival.
