[...so there was certainly a news broadcast featuring a certain Pokemon Professor just now, and while Kayneth usually doesn't mug for these sorts of things, he... goes with video in case he needs to show off something.

...on some level, he's thrilled, but on another level... the way he's drumming his fingers on his desk suggests some level of exasperation.]

Well, I believe that broadcast may have cleared up a mystery or two for those of us who have noticed some strange things about some of the new Pokemon --- namely, the Fairy type this professor was talking about. Some others and I have noticed that several Pokemon had an unusual amount of resistance to the Dragon type, and while I suppose it could have been some bizarrely common ability... well, as sudden as this seems, a whole new type suddenly appearing out of the ether makes more sense.

[he... sighs....... and then grabs the gear, turning it to show off three Pokemon. They happen to be a Carbink floating closer to the camera to try and mug a bit, distracting a bit from a spacey looking Swirlix and a shy looking Flabebe.]

...Dionisy, could you not...? Anyway, I've determined that these Pokemon seem as though they completely resist Dragon type moves, making them decent candidates for this new type. If you've noticed this particular quality from any of the Pokemon that you caught over the course of September, please tell me --- being able to catalog them would probably be useful for all of us.

[...something's still bothering him, though, as the Carbink continues to float around in the background and waggle their ears at the table...]

...Of course, that broadcast... brought up another question. Is anyone here familiar with the palace of Versailles? I'm really certain the Professor was just... standing in front of Versailles.

16 [VIDEO/TEXT/ACTION FOR BLACKTHORN]

[There's something a bit strange happening on the network today. It's possibly a video feed, but it keeps turning on and off and it's impossible to tell what's going on for the most part... and there's an odd, loud chewing sound.

...well, given Pokemon, it isn't too hard to figure out what's likely going on there, but eventually it seems as though the Gear is turned around enough in the unwitting cameramon's mouth that the surroundings can be made out, albeit with liberal application of shakycam.

It appears to be a bathhouse --- specifically the indoor section of the hot springs in Blackthorn, to anyone who's familiar --- and it's currently filled with what appear to be baby Tyrannosaurs, which would be super cute if it didn't appear that they were getting into the lockers and chewing on some poor sap's coat and various belongings and generally causing massive property damage.

...a fair number of them seem to be heading into the actual bath portion, too, and after several have wandered in, Kayneth storms out, clad in a towel and swim trunks, and freezes.

For he is the poor sap whose coat one of the Tyrunt is currently chewing on.

It's him.]

This... what is this!?

[...the gear drops and is now facing the ceiling, but audio can still be heard, along with the sound of someone heading over... towards the lockers.]

Don't think you're getting away with this, you little pests! By the time I'm done with you, you're going to wish ---!

[...and then the feed cuts off, as a tiny dinosaur has walked on the Gear.]

[Some time after that, Kayneth is sitting on a bench by the door, looking a bit forlornly outside. He is still wearing swim trunks and not about to brave a thunderstorm with hail in this sort of getup, so he just... waits for the storm to let up.

At least his Serperior's present, giving the other Tyrunt in the building nasty looks... and at least, quite surprisingly, his Gear still works. So... to pass the time...]

I do apologize for the scene earlier --- that was a bit of an embarrassment, really. Someone saw the dinosaurs out in the rain and decided that, yes, they absolutely needed to weather the storm in the hot springs.

And of course, all the employees are fine with it, because people in this world are just too kindhearted for their own good. What utter nonsense will tomorrow bring, I wonder...

15 [VIDEO/ACTION FOR ECRUTEAK]

[WELL IF IT ISN'T A NICE DAY IN ECRUTEAK CITY! The feed opens up to Kayneth bedecked in a fancy short-sleeved shirt and sitting in a lawnchair with a glass of champagne, a (finally) nice and well maintained lawn in view... though, there are some spots where it looks like grass and flowerbeds and whatnot have only been put in recently.

Funny, that!

Well, let's not dwell on Kayneth's gardening history for now, for he is, of course, going to talk at the camera, because of course he is.]

Well, it's certainly been an odd few weeks, hasn't it? Some things far more odd than others, of course, but that's simply par for the course here. Nevertheless, it does seem like the excitement has calmed down a bit, so I believe it's a perfect time for me to do some research.

I would, of course, ask you all for assistance in this, but it's not as though you'll go uncompensated for it.

[He gestures at the camera with his free hand, and it pans over to a fairly large pile of eggs, with a sign listing prices and species on it.]

I have quite a few Pokemon eggs on my hands, you see, and I'm quite interested in the results of my current breeding pairs. If you're willing to give me a brief report on the Pokemon you've bought once they hatch, then I'm willing to let you name your price --- to a certain extent, of course.

Furthermore, I have trained all these Pokemon, so if you'd like advice on what you might be dealing with, I'll be quite happy to provide you with the details.

14 [VIDEO/ACTION FOR ECRUTEAK] BACKDATED TO THE 11TH

[It's both Kayneth's birthday and anniversary today, and what a lucky boy he is for that! Really, though, he wasn't particularly looking forward to it. It... gave him too much to think about that he didn't necessarily want to be thinking about. He had been here for two years.

Two years, and he wasn't any closer to finding a way to ensure that he could make sure everything went right back home. In fact, given everything that he'd experienced, he honestly felt further away from that goal than ever. There were just too many questions --- about this world, about Pokemon... about his future, about himself, and it seemed as though they simply kept multiplying to an exponential extent the longer he spent in this world.

It was difficult, for someone who had barely questioned anything before, and he had every intention of throwing up something vaguely philosophical and tinged with melancholy onto the network today, after he'd had some time to collect his thoughts.

...nevertheless, like all well laid plans, that idea was completely shattered the moment he walked outside to get a breath of fresh air.]

[The video reveals... someone's yard? Which has... seen better days, really. There are, curiously enough, very shallow holes dug all around the house --- and the camera moves to show exactly what the extent of the damage is.

Someone was very determined about destroying this guy's lawn, that's for sure.

...of course, after a pan over the holes, there is a very angry voice that can be rather positively identified as Kayneth Archibald El-Melloi.]

13 [VIDEO | ACTION FOR ECRUTEAK]

[Well, between winter not really being winter and Ecruteak being a vastly more interesting city than the last one he wintered in, Kayneth has decided to take in the sights... well, again. After all, he was all over the place ever since he got there, even in the cold...

...however, admittedly, he's not just doing it to look into the cultural highlights. He's a bit restless, actually. It's not so much that he dislikes Ecruteak or wants to move on --- indeed, far from it, particularly given that it's still winter and he doesn't quite know when the weather will become less pleasant and more seasonally appropriate, and... well, he could stand to stay here until spring just to see how the city looks.

He can't quite place it, really. He's been dealing with some vague sense of melancholy since November that he can't trace the source of.

Or, perhaps, he doesn't want to place the source of it.

So, as he goes through the Ecruteak Museum (again), an annoyance strikes him, and he decides to focus on that instead, because really, it's been giving him a headache for quite a while and sometimes you really just need to ramble to the internet for a while in front of the Burned Tower.]

You know, having spent over a month in Ecruteak, I'm really wondering why it isn't a more popular destination for travelers, given that it's absolutely stunning. Even in the slightly unfortunate drabness of a midwinter thaw, I can't think of a place I've been that's more impressive. Certainly not Goldenrod; one really has to wonder why that city's so popular, given that it pales in comparison to what I'd say is Johto's cultural center.

Perhaps it may have something to do with the fact that the local organized crime syndicate seems to enjoy using it for target practice for reasons I can't quite determine, as it just appears as though they're bored out of their minds.

...Granted, on the subject of culture... I'll admit, I'm starting to miss works of art and literature that don't completely revolve around Pokemon. It's not like this place has nothing of cultural value, but every so often I come across something vaguely familiar... and it is, but there are always Pokemon awkwardly wedged in. Perhaps the natives don't find Whirlipede Heights and Mary Shellder vaguely offputting, but I certainly do. What I wouldn't give for proper literature...

[He pauses for a second, his expression flickering to... something else.]

[Given how Kayneth reacted during that whole nightmare deal, one would think that he would be stoked to have his abilities back yet again, and that was possibly true during the first hour or so.

However, his spirits quickly darkened when he was made aware that he did not, in fact, receive a large amount of mercury to go with said abilities... instead, quite recently, something else had started following him around.

Something far more annoying.

The feed opens with an extremely sour-looking Kayneth, and... is that an instrumental version of Jingle Bells...? No, it definitely is. Also hail, for whatever reason.

Actually, upon looking at the rest of the picture, it becomes clear that the source of both is a boombox-wielding Abomasnow, who is staring at him somewhat expectantly... along with an assorted set of Delibird, Snover, Stantler, some very slightly unseasonal winter Sawsbuck, and some weird iceberg thing with inexplicably functional blinking Christmas lights hung all over it.

Expression aside, Kayneth seems to be doing his damnedest to ignore the Pokemon behind him, because he would not be in a seasonal mood even if it wasn't a month early.]

I believe that a day or so, someone suggested that we use these instances to try and explore locations we're not usually permitted to enter... has anyone actually had anything resembling luck with that? I've been doing my best to make my way to Saffron or Cerulean or somewhere, but I keep finding myself anywhere but-

[He stops, because a winter Deerling is gently nudging his hand. Rather than being charmed, he simply sighs in frustration. Well, it wouldn't discuss to talk about what he really wants to do with this crowd, but...]

Of course, this crowd seems to be following me everywhere, and I haven't been able to actually walk into a Pokemon Center to get any Fire Pokemon to frighten them off. Does anyone have some decent ideas on how to get some unseasonal Christmas carolers to simply go away?

[And hey, maybe if you run into him in person anywhere outside of Ecruteak, Cerulean, or Saffron, you can experience some holiday cheer too! ...even thought it's not even December yet shut up]

12; NIGHTMARE CASTLE CATCH-ALL POST [ACTION]

[Kayneth is not exactly having a good few days.

Well, okay, is anyone? He's definitely taking it exceptionally hard, though. I mean, what kind of top lecturer in Spiritual Evocation can't do anything about a spirit infestation in a spooky castle? This is should be child's play for him.

He should be able to blame this place for all of it, but it's hard to feel as overwhelmingly self confident as usual when you're completely useless in this situation... so, he will probably seem somewhat scatterbrained and extremely strung out regardless of when you run into him, but he'll be doing very different things depending on the time of day.

{A: DURING THE DAY}

Kayneth will be all over the place, seemingly attempting to do everything at once. He can be seen most frequently in the library, where he's frantically trying to retake his notes on pen and paper after his gear, ah, mysteriously disappeared on the first day, but of course he'll be spending a fair amount of time on the second floor. He won't rest until he inspects every suspicious looking nook and cranny! Especially since he needs to find that last stupid door... He'll definitely be up for Ace Magus Investigations with anyone, though he might be a liiiittle more interested in anyone with a pink sigil.

{B. DURING THE NIGHT]
Even though he has some (or all, depending on time!) of his Pokemon back, he'll probably be holing up in the Overgrown Tower. Best to be careful, after all!

...okay no he's just kind of mentally keysmashing and trying to take his mind off of it in various ways. Most of the time he'll be jotting down notes and trying to puzzle out how this place works, but at some points in the night he's very clearly just gotten to the point where all he wants to do is sketch things. He seems somewhat frustrated about it because it's not productive, but at least it's keeping him awake... and while it may or may not be possible to sleep here, the last thing he wants to do is test it out.

With that said, he is in possession of a gold sigil, so he could be convinced to leave.

011 [VIDEO/ACTION FOR AZALEA]

[It is hot as hell today, so Kayneth has taken it upon himself to relocate himself to his room in the local inn rather than in front of the gym. There's a pile of eggs and a nice, fancy-looking list of species and prices slightly out of focus-he'll get to that eventually, but first...! He'll hold up the Hive Badge, although he doesn't look particularly excited to be holding it.]

Apparently, it's customary to show off your badge when you've beaten a Gym Leader... but honestly, I don't think that win was even worth bragging about. The way Bugsy commanded his Pinsir was a complete joke and a terrible way to open the battle. I expected my strategy to be effective, but... I'm quite certain he actually forgot his Pokemon knew Faint Attack until several minutes in, so it was completely useless against Ghost Pokemon for several minutes. There was some challenge to it after that, but I'm quite certain that's because I was using reserve members of my team to make it a challenge.

Then again, I suppose that's only to be expected of a world where no one actually knows why Pokeballs, possibly the most important piece of technology in this world, actually works. You would think I'd be able to get a decent explanation on the workings of Pokeballs, but even the experts who make them are simply working on the fact that a particular set of components just happens to work. Ah, and I believe you would also think that people would bother committing the first individual to happen upon this technology to collective memory... but it seems as though that person has been lost to history, so there aren't even any notes to go on from them.

[He sighs in frustration. Could the people in this world be any more incompetent...]

Then again, I suppose that may as well be like asking who the first person was to discover fire, for all we know. Well, I suppose it's better to focus on the things that aren't ludicrously frustrating, so-

Miss Megido asked me to breed two Archen for her and a friend, and, given that it's been over a year since I've been assigned as a breeder and I've been too busy attempting to fine-tune my team to experiment with it beforehand, I decided that now would be as good a time to begin experimenting as any. So, I have a decent variety of Pokemon eggs for what I presume to be reasonable prices... though, if you're willing to provide me some feedback on the Pokemon after they hatch, I'll be perfectly willing to lower them further. I've also trained all of the species included fairly extensively, so if you're unfamiliar with any of them I'll be perfectly willing to give you a good idea of what to expect from them.

[OOC: Badge and info on Pokeballs approved by the mods! Also, there are still plenty of eggs up for grabs-no Archen, Snivy, Cyndaquil, or Petilil slots are still open, unfortunately, but everything else is!]

Given the present circumstances, I suppose you all have your own problems to be dealing with and I'm not entirely sure how long the gear will hold out until this feed turns into a complete mess, so I'll keep this short and simple. First off...

Well, if you happened to see her at all, I'd like to know. As for my second question... has anyone else had their entire party transform into Charizard upon catching one? I swear, the only thing that was strange about the one I caught was that it had an odd Dex entry, and what hasn't over the past few days...

[...Yeah, so, he caught like five Glitch Pokemon, and it's a complete miracle he's not trapped somewhere. That doesn't mean things are pleasant for him-he's warping around Kanto and Johto, and whenever he arrives, reality gets... even more bizarre than it usually is, and other people are bound to experience it. Maybe you'll have some adventures, who knows! Granted, he's more easily riled up than usual, so perhaps you just want to avoid him...]

I suppose I'm feeling a bit philosophical on my one-year anniversary of arriving in this world, so I may as well attempt to ask one of those popular open questions to the network that are intended to be thought-provoking or... something.

[Kayneth sounds a bit tired and his tone has a hint of "I can't even believe I'm doing this I should be asking about something I care about," and... well, yes, that is precisely how he feels, but at the same time he needs to talk about something...]

What was your impression of this place shortly after arrival, and how has that changed-

No, that's an awful question, and I wouldn't blame anyone for not being able to come up with a coherent answer to it. Honestly, I can't for the life of me form a consistent opinion of this place-some days I'm enjoying myself-or at least I may have managed to trick myself into thinking I'm enjoying myself-and other days I have nothing but hatred for this place. It's certainly an interesting puzzle to try and piece together how this world works and what's behind our presence here, yet there are so many things about it that are an absolute nightmare to deal with. Our inability to go home, random disappearances, the lack of infrastructure, the constant music...

[So Kayneth is in a rather unexpected situation this go around; that is to say he is currently in a kitchen that has various objects of cultural significance strewn about.

Judging by the ingredients, it appears as though he is attempting to make Mom's Favorite Chocolate-Covered Pretzels. One would think this was an accidental post, but... no.

That would probably be less of a clusterfuck, honestly.]

I am never really sure how many parallels there are between this world and my own, particularly in terms of holidays-even when it makes very little sense for them to be there for apparent historical reasons. With even recent news broadcasts by the natives dropping hints that Valentine's Day-or something like it-is around the corner, I'm finding myself rather curious about what sort of holidays naturally exist in this world.

I suppose that whatever the natives are celebrating could be some sort of equivalent that came about naturally... or it could be something that they picked up on from people from other worlds and decided to exploit in a fairly typical fashion. After all, why would the companies of this world miss out on an opportunity to use relationship-based guilt in their marketing strategies at some point in the year?

My general displeasure with the overcommercialization of this holiday aside, it is regrettably very effective in getting people to want copious amounts of sweets, but if I'm going to have anything like that this season it's going to be made by my own hands. Has anyone attempted the recipe that was brought up in Friday's news broadcast and found it to be less than satisfactory? If not... well, it should be obvious that I'm considering trying to make them.

I'm aware that I'm late in addressing the events that occurred from the 24th to the 26th of November as I spent far too long attempting to look into it before discussing it further, but I feel as though several aspects of it haven't been addressed.

The official word is that everyone simply fell asleep for three days, which is the most pathetic excuse for a cover-up I've ever seen--at least, I presumed that was the case when I first heard that explanation. I've tried to speak to several natives about it and they've been horribly evasive, but it seems as though the explanation is that they're more confused by it than anything else. It's difficult to say if this is a cover-up or if this is simply what they want to believe, given that it's the same explanation that had been given to the three-day blackout that occurred in May and, apparently, at other six-month intervals. Granted, given that the natives don't seem to be a hive mind, it could easily be both.

The difference with the most recent one is, of course, that people seem to remember bits and pieces of things that actually happened during the supposed blackout in a fairly concrete way.

There are three questions that I believe are necessary to consider when approaching this, and I will pose them in the order of how difficult I believe they will be to solve.

1. Were the previous blackouts in the same vein, but obscured to us in some way? I really doubt this isn't the case, but I think it's important to consider anyway.

2. If so, why can we remember scattered concrete things about what happened over the course of this blackout when we couldn't remember anything about the previous ones?

3. What caused these blackouts in the first place? At the very least, we can dispel the idea that it was some wild party with complete certainty. There is talk that it was some sort of Legendary Pokemon, which is as good a theory as any.

It is entirely possible that these incidents are a lead into unlocking the mysteries of this place-a bit of a tenuous assumption to make, but I don't see anyone coming forth with other leads. For all we know, this could lead us to a way to return to our original worlds.

[Well, it's a nice day for October, which isn't saying much; it's far less hot than it was last month, which is a mercy. It has been cloudy for most of the day, but there have been moments of sun throughout, which... the female Nidoran slightly behind Kayneth seems to be taking advantage of take a nap in a fleeting sliver of sun.

Of course, there's no dozing off happening with her trainer, who is probably going to talk about science or something.]

I suppose that if you asked me six months ago whether or not I'd be able to stand this place by this point, I would have denied the faintest possibility of it. Nevertheless, while I can't say I'm happy with my situation, at the very least I'm not bored. I suppose it's not much of a surprise to anyone who's actually been paying attention to them, but Pokemon are far more fascinating than they have any right to be.

[...he gives a somewhat meaningful glance to the Nidoran, as if expecting her to demonstrate in the near future...

Has anyone really considered the mechanics of how Pokemon that are bred in captivity hatch with moves their parents know that they wouldn't have learned otherwise? I had known of this phenomenon before, of course, but I've only seen the results of this particular quirk in detail very recently. I suppose it's not something I would be overly concerned with if it were something that they didn't hatch with, given that it would be very easy to justify the immediate transfer of knowledge that way-but, as it stands, it seems as there's some other dimension to it.

Regardless, I suppose this is something I should look further into. How many moves is it possible to breed onto a given Pokemon, anyway? Is it theoretically infinite, or is there some limit to it?

[Well, it's a Very Important Day, or at least it would be if Sola were still here. Since Kayneth's still all hung up on a girl, he'll need something to distract him...! AND REALLY, WHAT BETTER DISTRACTION THAN SOMETHING HE'S BEEN THINKING ABOUT FOR A WHILE.]

Something has caught my attention lately-or, rather, the absence of something has. With how utterly baffling the world we've found ourselves in tends to be, I would have expected some sort of formal research team to have been set up. I have met other individuals interested in picking apart the mysteries of this world, of course-but that's far different than an organized effort.

Which, of course, is what I'm proposing here. I understand the desire to work alone-believe me, I generally prefer that. However, I'm sure an organized effort will cover much more ground.

So, who all is interested? I'm certain we can discuss further details once I have a good idea of that.

[It's not as though Kayneth is unfamiliar with what happens when someone disappears. Tokiomi's disappearance was... regrettable, but it wasn't anything like what was going on now. He'd essentially been dumped out of a world that had only wanted him to succeed and into one that wanted nothing more than to see him suffer.

If someone disappears from this world, how likely is it that they will return? I've been informed that it's entirely possible that they will either remember their time here or they will have no recollection of it, as well. How many cases are there of the former versus the latter?

I'm beginning to suspect this is all some sort of elaborate hallucination.

I must say, that was far less difficult than I expected it to be. Are all of the Gym Leaders so easily defeated? I will be sorely disappointed if I'm not forced to actually employ strategic thinking at least once.

I have already come to the conclusion that the puzzles are to be approached with caution, but if they have any other properties, I'd certainly like to hear about them.

[Well, there's some angry rich douchebag in New Bark Town messing with the Pokegear right now. It's pretty clear that he's having some trouble with it, but at least he hasn't broken the damn thing. He’s trying to keep some sort of calm façade, but… it’s not very effective.

Is this some sort of joke? If so, it certainly must have taken some skill to set up. I applaud your slavish attention to detail, but it really isn’t funny. I have somewhere I need to be, and it most certainly isn’t here. Nor is it my tenth birthday, for that matter.
