007 [VIDEO/ACTION FOR VIOLET; BACKDATED TO THE AFTERNOON OF THE 12TH]
[Well, it's a nice day for October, which isn't saying much; it's far less hot than it was last month, which is a mercy. It has been cloudy for most of the day, but there have been moments of sun throughout, which... the female Nidoran slightly behind Kayneth seems to be taking advantage of take a nap in a fleeting sliver of sun.
Of course, there's no dozing off happening with her trainer, who is probably going to talk about science or something.]
I suppose that if you asked me six months ago whether or not I'd be able to stand this place by this point, I would have denied the faintest possibility of it. Nevertheless, while I can't say I'm happy with my situation, at the very least I'm not bored. I suppose it's not much of a surprise to anyone who's actually been paying attention to them, but Pokemon are far more fascinating than they have any right to be.
[...he gives a somewhat meaningful glance to the Nidoran, as if expecting her to demonstrate in the near future...
...
...nope, still asleep. He will have to have Words with his Pokemon later, but for now-]
Has anyone really considered the mechanics of how Pokemon that are bred in captivity hatch with moves their parents know that they wouldn't have learned otherwise? I had known of this phenomenon before, of course, but I've only seen the results of this particular quirk in detail very recently. I suppose it's not something I would be overly concerned with if it were something that they didn't hatch with, given that it would be very easy to justify the immediate transfer of knowledge that way-but, as it stands, it seems as there's some other dimension to it.
Regardless, I suppose this is something I should look further into. How many moves is it possible to breed onto a given Pokemon, anyway? Is it theoretically infinite, or is there some limit to it?

[Riku smirks. After all, he's done that himself and made oodles of money for it.]
Spruce up your team with tutors and TMs, and you get an even bigger selection. Especially with moves like Toxic and Double Team, which can be learned by just about every Pokémon.
[...Oh, and now there appears to be a Nidoking peeking over Riku's shoulder. Sorta. A 4'6'' mini-Baragon compared to a 6' trainer requires the Pokémon to hop a little.]
no subject
[...admittedly, an annoyed look crosses his face at the mention of TMs, because while he's not as much of a Luddite as some people he knows the whole tech thing rubs him the wrong way, but...]
Well, I've been working on training my current roster to level 100 so I can be sure they've learned every move that they possibly can-that, and it ensures that I have them if I need them, of course. I suppose I'll work on tutors and TMs as I get access to them.
...Really, though, practically everything can learn Toxic? Shouldn't that be something that only Poison-type Pokemon can learn?
[...also he'll... have to give that thing with Riku a Look, because seriously, what is it doing
...also it looks like it would be intimidating if it wasn't so... tiny...]
no subject
And, yes, anything can learn Toxic. Every single one of my Pokémon knows it, so even something as unsuspecting as a Raichu can nail opponents with bad poison.
[He smirks.
As for Slacker, he continues to hop and grunt. C'mon, c'mon! Let him see the other Poké--
Oh. That'd be Riku's Haunter hoisting him up by the back. And yes, that Haunter is bigger than the Nidoking. Somehow. Blame Pokémon game logic.]

Well, fighting gym leaders is fairly lucrative, and I intend to face the Azalea gym leader before heading to Goldenrod... Is Goldenrod the only city that has a large selection of TMs? I noticed them the first time I visited the Department Store, but for a variety of reasons I didn't purchase any.
I suppose I should invest in Toxic, at the very least. That does sound like it could be useful to... have...
[...yeah he's... kind of just going to get distracted by what's going on there
bro what are your Pokemon doing...]

[As for the Pokémon... Phantom is currently making Slacker dance in midair, much to his dismay. He moans and squirms a little, prompting Riku to turn around and sigh.]
Phantom, seriously. Knock it off.
[The Haunter sticks out his tongue and continues to fiddle with Slacker until--
GRRRAAAAH!
That'd be a Thunderbolt striking him from behind. With that, Slacker hits the ground and grumbles a little.]

I can't say I've really considered that sort of thing, but my Pokemon haven't really produced any eggs as of yet.
[[Touch....touch wood....]]
Are there any experienced breeders you can talk to, Lord Archibald? That seems like the sort of thing they'd know.
I've only really attempted it once, and it didn't produce any outstanding results. Granted, I wanted to be sure I had something in a fairly short amount of time...
[...he looks kind of guilty about that. HE REALLY SHOULD HAVE TRIED TO BREED SOME SWEET EGG MOVES ONTO THAT MAREEP...]
I don't know any experienced breeders particularly well, but I asked the network about this assuming I'd catch one's interest.
[[After all, she's bought some eggs in the past that hatched into babies that...really shouldn't have known some of the moves they did...]]
But the moves that are transferred are very specific ones, rather than all of them; it sounds horribly complicated.
[[.....]]
Maybe it's a bit of a puzzle!

[[LORD ARCHIBALD
WHAT IS THIS BLASPHEMY?]]
There is no such thing!
[[....well ok there kinda is but the Professor wouldn't want her saying so]]
Puzzles may vary in difficulty, but they're all enjoyable in some way, m'lord!

Ugh. Will-users. Why must you insist on overthinking everything...?]
For one as concerned about bloodlines as you seem to be, I'd think the answer to that would be fairly obvious.
WHO WILL OVERTHINK THINGS IF HE DOESN'T?]
So, what? Do people spring from the womb with full knowledge of virtually every spell their parents knew in your world? That certainly isn't how it works in mine.
I wouldn't suggest playing obtuse with me - unless people from yours spring fully-formed from eggs as well.
If you'll allow me to explain-my world has a similar system of inheritance; namely, we create crests engraved in our bodies that are passed down through generations. These crests contain the sum of all magical knowledge that has been discovered by a given family throughout the ages-every spell, incantation, et cetera.
This is, of course, something that needs to be transferred after birth, as opposed to before it.
...really gross tbh]
See, that's much, much better - you're much more tolerable if you don't constantly try to give some sort of cheeky response, you know. However, I can't say that it works quite that way in Albion - either you're a member of the Archon bloodline or you're not; if you are, then you may not understand everything you're capable of doing, but you're certainly capable of doing it without going through any sort of process. I've excelled in the usage of ranged weapons to their fullest potential since one was first laid in my hands; from what I understand, all other disciplines are similar.

[action] where exactly are they btw...
Could it be...a small, helpless creature
that doesn't have Poison Point, thank gods? A creature waiting to be ambushed and defeated?Yes. It must be. It is the destiny of such creatures to be hunted.
And it is the duty of a hunter to fulfill such a destiny.

Kayneth knows he shouldn't be amused by this since it's his Pokemon, so he does his best to keep from cracking a smile
but this is pretty funny...]
Are you going to listen now, then?

NYARRRARARRRRARRSHIIYAAAAR
[The Shinx trips as he lands and flips onto his back, flailing his legs frantically. He rights himself in a furry whirlwind of noise and determination, then lets loose a stuttery, wild blast of Discharge and charges Galizia like a creature possessed.
Meanwhile, his trainer is finally sort of close to catching up with him.]
