13 [VIDEO | ACTION FOR ECRUTEAK]
[Well, between winter not really being winter and Ecruteak being a vastly more interesting city than the last one he wintered in, Kayneth has decided to take in the sights... well, again. After all, he was all over the place ever since he got there, even in the cold...
...however, admittedly, he's not just doing it to look into the cultural highlights. He's a bit restless, actually. It's not so much that he dislikes Ecruteak or wants to move on --- indeed, far from it, particularly given that it's still winter and he doesn't quite know when the weather will become less pleasant and more seasonally appropriate, and... well, he could stand to stay here until spring just to see how the city looks.
He can't quite place it, really. He's been dealing with some vague sense of melancholy since November that he can't trace the source of.
Or, perhaps, he doesn't want to place the source of it.
So, as he goes through the Ecruteak Museum (again), an annoyance strikes him, and he decides to focus on that instead, because really, it's been giving him a headache for quite a while and sometimes you really just need to ramble to the internet for a while in front of the Burned Tower.]
You know, having spent over a month in Ecruteak, I'm really wondering why it isn't a more popular destination for travelers, given that it's absolutely stunning. Even in the slightly unfortunate drabness of a midwinter thaw, I can't think of a place I've been that's more impressive. Certainly not Goldenrod; one really has to wonder why that city's so popular, given that it pales in comparison to what I'd say is Johto's cultural center.
Perhaps it may have something to do with the fact that the local organized crime syndicate seems to enjoy using it for target practice for reasons I can't quite determine, as it just appears as though they're bored out of their minds.
[is it casually shittalk team rocket week or something...]
...Granted, on the subject of culture... I'll admit, I'm starting to miss works of art and literature that don't completely revolve around Pokemon. It's not like this place has nothing of cultural value, but every so often I come across something vaguely familiar... and it is, but there are always Pokemon awkwardly wedged in. Perhaps the natives don't find Whirlipede Heights and Mary Shellder vaguely offputting, but I certainly do. What I wouldn't give for proper literature...
[He pauses for a second, his expression flickering to... something else.]
...and here I am talking about it to some machine. I've really been in this place for far too long...
[He ends the feed, having kind of embarrassingly sort of maybe admitted he was homesick in the most pretentious way ever.]

Honestly, of all the places I've been so far, Goldenrod really is the worst. All the other cities I've been to so far have their own charm --- I believe Violet had a bad reputation for being something of a bottleneck for a while, but between Sprout Tower and the ruins it's far more interesting than anything Goldenrod has to offer. Azalea isn't bad either, though it's out of the way and...
[...he pauses, just kind of looking at who he's talking to here]
...well, you wouldn't have to worry about there being no decent alcohol for miles around.
Really, though, this world would be lovely to visit every so often on a voluntary basis, but it certainly grates when you're stranded here.

All Goldenrod has is a big shopping center and pseudo-capital status. You could probably pull off scams and muggings there easily too, but that's it.
[Ew, alcohol! Technically she's never tried it, hangovers are gonna be shit to deal with even if it was legal.] This place is just one big uncanny valley. Familiar, but not really.
It's still nice, though! Just like my world.
The people on it are a different matter.

[You can just hear him turning his nose up at the very thought]
It's not quite as familiar to me for obvious reasons, but we are limited to a relatively small area. I've heard interesting things about other regions, but they're not particularly useful unless it was possible to get there.
no subject
Ehhhh? Other regions? Why aren't there ways to get there?
no subject
[yes, because that's really the problem with that]
Anyway, I have absolutely no idea. There are plenty of theories, but no answers.
...believe me, that's effectively this place summed up in a sentence.
no subject
Plus, it is fun.
[...r u srs] Are you serious? Don't people figure things out after being here for ages?
no subject
[heh.]
Not even if you're trying. There may be some who have a better idea of things, but for the most part, we're locked out of the majority of the potentially useful information.
no subject
Well, I should be kind to my slaves now and then! Trying to understand their life experiences really provides insight to why they actually consider themselves useful.
I never really got it, though. I guess you gotta be one to call out one, huh?
[As for the information thing... she did know some guy in shades was doing research on Legendaries!] It's starting to sound like we're part of some master scheme. Better keep an eye out, if things go awry, you'll probably be the first meat shield.
no subject
I can't really say I hold any particular ill will to the ones that know to stay in their proper place. It's really only the ones with an overinflated sense of self-worth that I can't deal with.
...It wouldn't be surprising to me if we were, but there's little chance of that happening.
no subject
[ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT KAYNETH?!] Do you seriously think that? You look like such a lame character... if you get picked off, no one will even remember you!
no subject
[...
WHY IS THIS HAPPENING WHEN HE NOW BEGINS TO DOUBT WHO NEVER DOUBTED ALL THESE YEARS]
I'll have you know that I'm extremely important!
no subject
Maybe in your previous world, just maybe. But here? I have allies that won't let me die... that make sure my will can be carried on. How about you? Can you name any close allies here?
Well, can you?
no subject
I have a fair amount, myself.
[...okay maybe two big ones....]
no subject
And people from my previous life are here. They all owe me for gracing their pathetic lives with my presence! So what if people don't think I'm nice enough for them? [Hohoho.] A fair amount? Are you sure?
no subject
Who knows? Perhaps all those people you know from your previous life will all disappear back to your world at once. It's not unheard of for such things to happen.
no subject
So what if they do? They have so much things to leave behind and presents for me, maybe their disappearance could be a good thing! Oh, and of course I don't explicitly need them- but when it comes down to it, who are people going to help? The poor little girl or the smelly, smug Westerner?
no subject
...And really, I'll have you know that I smell fantastic. If you're so determined to hate everything Western, then why are you blonde?
[oh my god, Kayneth. You can't just ask people why they're blonde.]
no subject
Outright insults are just insults! People to get turned off by just that and don't realize my own potential aren't worth my time anyway.
no subject
[...that's how it works right]
Who even is worth your time, anyway?
no subject
People who are such idiots they follow any command, or allies that are loyal enough to stick with me no matter what!
no subject
So, you're just surrounding yourself with people you happen to hate slightly less than everyone else? That's honestly just kind of a sad existence, if you ask me.
1/3
I'm not sad! I-
[...wait hold on]
2/3
And... well, she agrees that an existence like that is rather pathetic. She was taught that. But no! She can't just... say her existence is pathetic! What the fuck? And also... since when was her existence sad, she died because she tried to be nicer didn't she? And...
But...
She wants to be more like her big sis, like her father, leave behind her mother's big ego and grandma's cooing and all that familial expectations but she's dead but she's strong and can't trust people but-
Ah, fuck.]

[Welp.]
