I'm not overly familiar with Japan, admittedly, but given that Kanto is also the name of a region of Japan... that isn't terribly surprising. I haven't noticed any of the significant landmark similarities, but Ecruteak and Violet definitely have examples of what seem to be traditional Japanese architecture.
