17 [VIDEO] BACKDATED TO OCTOBER 24TH
[...so there was certainly a news broadcast featuring a certain Pokemon Professor just now, and while Kayneth usually doesn't mug for these sorts of things, he... goes with video in case he needs to show off something.
For now, though.
For now.
...on some level, he's thrilled, but on another level... the way he's drumming his fingers on his desk suggests some level of exasperation.]
Well, I believe that broadcast may have cleared up a mystery or two for those of us who have noticed some strange things about some of the new Pokemon --- namely, the Fairy type this professor was talking about. Some others and I have noticed that several Pokemon had an unusual amount of resistance to the Dragon type, and while I suppose it could have been some bizarrely common ability... well, as sudden as this seems, a whole new type suddenly appearing out of the ether makes more sense.
[he... sighs....... and then grabs the gear, turning it to show off three Pokemon. They happen to be a Carbink floating closer to the camera to try and mug a bit, distracting a bit from a spacey looking Swirlix and a shy looking Flabebe.]
...Dionisy, could you not...? Anyway, I've determined that these Pokemon seem as though they completely resist Dragon type moves, making them decent candidates for this new type. If you've noticed this particular quality from any of the Pokemon that you caught over the course of September, please tell me --- being able to catalog them would probably be useful for all of us.
[...something's still bothering him, though, as the Carbink continues to float around in the background and waggle their ears at the table...]
...Of course, that broadcast... brought up another question. Is anyone here familiar with the palace of Versailles? I'm really certain the Professor was just... standing in front of Versailles.
In... France.
[...he
sighs..............]
...likely, it's... some sort of equivalent, but... is there truly a place in this world that's just France...? Is there an equivalent to everything? Of course, I have no idea if there's any sort of point to speculating given that we'll never actually go there.
[A gloomy pause.]
Probably not, really.
For now, though.
For now.

Do you think there might be more analogues to our worlds here?

Or perhaps someone who came from France -- the original France -- arrived here, and was responsible for the creation of that palace in Versailles' image.
video
I think four or five years may be the longest this has happening, but it's hard to tell without access to other regions.
video
And... I noticed the geographical resemblance to Japan, as well. [Back home, the RBY games were almost certainly made so that the Pokémon world Kanto resembled its real-life counterpart. If this world operated on the exact same logic, then it makes sense to have an alternate France. But that would also imply that one entity created this entire world -- a deity. He can't help but wonder how much influence the Pokémon gods have outside of their little universe...]
You know, at home, there was a video game focused around traveling Kanto. Obviously, it was specifically designed to resemble the real Kanto. Then in this world, is it possible that someone or something specifically designed these other areas as well?
[There's a pause, and then Komaeda sighs, ducking his head in shame.]
That sounded ridiculous.

I'd make a joke, but I don't really have one to tell.

However, the fact that it's similar enough for me to recognize it at first glance is a bit... striking, I suppose. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it.
text;
Is there anything else you can recognize so easily in this region or in Kanto? It seems strange for it to be all this new Kalos region.

Maybe we should have some sort of photo library of the new Pokémon, though, so that people can identify them and connect information?
video
However, that's actually a very good idea, given that we don't actually have common names for any of them yet. People would be able to recognize them on sight, of course, so it would be better than... well, anything else at the moment.

If she hadn't told me just what it was she was showing me, I would have assumed it was a picture of Paris.

I have no idea if this is exactly as absurd as it feels or not, but it certainly does feel absurd.

I've heard of it but I've never been there personally.
[ There's a frown there. Yukio's been mulling this over for a while ever since the broadcast. ]
Do you think wherever he's from... might either have a connection to our world or maybe we're just in an alternate universe altogether... [ And a sigh of his own. ] I'm really not sure what to make of all this.

...of course, anything is possible, really, so who knows.

That -
[France's expression is rather calm for such a venomous sound to the word. He's beyond angry. He's enraged.]
- is not my land. That is not Versailles. That -
[He breathes in, like he's about to shout, but it comes out in the same, level, and utterly condemning voice as before.]
- place will doubtlessly pale in comparison to everything I am because it is not--!
[He is speechless with rage.]
he's finally hit on what's bothering him about this]
Oh, well, of course not. It's probably called Verpsyduck or some other insipid pun because this universe practically runs on insipid puns instead of logic.
I'm really curious to see how patently absurd it all is, though it would likely hit some unsettling note of "this is familiar, except it's all completely idiotic."

[He looks off-screen, most likely to his own Flabebe. A tiny flower completely resisting dragons? Though it sounds absurd, Dist wouldn't have a problem with it if it was true. It's another piece of evidence that beauty can trump brawn!
As for that last bit...]
Is that another location from Earth, then? My, with all these equivalents popping up, perhaps I won't have to visit the actual planet myself.
[Not that he actually could, but you know.]
...honestly, I'm still wondering if this is all some sort of cosmic joke, given that one of our new dragonslayers is some sort of cotton candy thing, but I suppose there are more ridiculous Pokemon out there.
And really, you likely would if you wanted to experience the versions of landmarks that weren't likely to be awful puns. I'm sure it's not that good of a substitute.
