APRIL 3RD
He'd had tea and biscuits prepared ahead of time, and he was admittedly a bit early but this... well, he still wasn't in a very good state of mind. He may have yelled at a fairy or two in getting prepared, but everything was ready early, and everything had been arranged, and all he had to do was wait for Lady Aly to make her appearance.
...and try not to look too on edge. There was that.

"Aly Red-Hand, my lord Marquis... of Alasdair White-Hand, Scourge of the Fox, Commander of the Red Hand Company, of Clan Tzilani--"
The woman herself, in full military regalia, wearing one of the curious, fanged-and-eyeless half-masks which marked the devotees of the Blind God, swept in, waving a hand to hush him. "No need for such formalities," she murmured. Her voice was throatily rich, soft and warm.
The woman herself was short and compact, leanly muscled underneath her fine plate, her hair short-shorn and dark. A red-and-black braided thong winked in her hair, a surprisingly feminine indulgence, given the rest of her, and she extended a gauntleted hand.
"It's a pleasure to meet you at last, my lord Marquis.. I only regret it's under such circumstances."
no subject
"Well, it's been some time since I've met someone under ideal circumstances, so there's no need for regrets," said Kayneth with a bit of a wry smile. "So really, I'd just invite you to sit down and have some tea and biscuits if you'd like, Lady Red-Hand. Of course, if they're not to your liking, I could easily have something else sent up.'
no subject
"Regrettably, I'll decline the repast," she informed him, corner of her mouth hooking in a curious smile. But her legs folded and she sat, curiously elegant despite the armour. She was straight backed, hands set upon the arms; dignified enough that it seemed a throne. "My nature restricts my diet to blood and magic."
It was clearly not meant in jest.
"But I won't keep you in suspense for the lack. Though I believe I was reasonably politic in my correspondence, I hope that I was... most clear, in what I was offering."
no subject
"Ah... well, my apologies for that," he said, looking a bit embarrassed. "I should have considered that to be a possibility... but, well, yes. There were admittedly a few different ways it could have been taken, either in terms of vengeance or some way to regain my lost abilities --- or a suitable replacement for them."
He paused a second.
"Of course, it could always be both..."
no subject
The sharp nails of one hand tapped delicately upon the wood of the arm of her chair. "I can replace your abilities, first and foremost. But vengeance I might also be able to supply. I've made good for myself, hunting shardbearers in the past, well outside of pitched battle; it is not beyond me."
no subject
...was that hot? He wasn't entirely sure, to be completely honest. And... really, that was the answer he had been hoping for, more than anything else. So he'd go ahead and take a biscuit, then.
"Well, the former is definitely something I want, so we'll limit things to that. There's very little I wouldn't do to regain my abilities, so I'm open to whatever terms you'd provide."
no subject
She paused, forked tongue flicking. "Paper thin, ideally. Such a lattice would diffuse these nodes of magical power, make it effectively impossible to pinpoint their location within you, protecting you against the same harm which occurred earlier. Ideally along the front of the ribcage, I would imagine. The efficacy of this device and its return of your power could easily be tested before implantation to assure you of its quality and... efficacy."
no subject
"I imagine that couldn't be passed on an inheritance, then..." he said, sounding perhaps a bit down. "Well, I suppose I've already made my peace with that end of things, and that sounds absolutely perfect otherwise. And, well... I am in a position where I stand to make a reasonable amount of money, so I certainly wouldn't object to paying you more to push things a little further."
no subject
She smiled, slowly. "Very well. You need only inform me when to begin. I'll have a contract putting the details we just discussed into print, just as a formality for our records."
no subject
...he could have literally everything back the way it was. It would be a little different, granted, but...
no subject
"I'll have it delivered to your offices on the morrow, of course, and await your word. I'll admit, I'm looking forward to the project."
