002 [VOICE/TEXT]

[VOICE]

[It seems as though someone's Pokegear is malfunctioning! Well it's not like that never happens, right? The audio feed seems to be cutting in and out. The first time it cuts in, it's possible to hear the sound of crumbling rock and the sound of someone who may or may not have just sprained his ankle. Also a... Wooper...

...the second time it cuts in, though, a highly annoyed (and somewhat pained) voice can be heard.]

-even believe this. This place is such a-

[And, possibly as a convenient censor, the feed cuts off again, though it resumes fairly quickly.]

-had such bad luck. This never would have happened-

[aaaand it cuts out again. Of course, a moment or so after that point, it switches to text.]

[TEXT]

I would presume that at least someone here has experience with the Ruins of Alph, so I want to know any important details. Has the location been mapped out to any degree? I have already come to the conclusion that the puzzles are to be approached with caution, but if they have any other properties, I'd certainly like to hear about them.

[...GOD, HE HAS NO IDEA, DOES HE...]

[Well, since it seems like your audio has cut out there, let's just go with texting for now!]

Unfortunately I don't have any information to offer in regards to the Ruins. Have you been exploring them for very long? What happened?

[Deets, Kayneth! No he doesn't care that he barely knows you! This sounds fascinating!]

Are you alright? It sounds as though you hurt yourself.

[Were those things booby-trapped?? Holy shit this sounds awesome. Hey Kimblee, guess what we're doing after we get the badges~!]

A fall? Well, I'll certainly keep that in mind. Are you still in the Ruins?

[...this...would be why he let you go in first.]

...it sounds as though this area is more difficult to navigate than you assumed.

[His tone is admittedly somewhere between facepalming and "Oh god, I told you so," but we're not getting into that right now.]

I'm not sure if they've been mapped, but I did work out what the phrases say in the chambers beneath the puzzles. They're written in some strange language... and apparently, strange Pokemon live there, but they must be pretty shy since I didn't see any in the actual ruins part. There are plenty of Natu and such above ground, of course.

Oh, and also -- the ground kind of drops out from beneath you when you complete one of the puzzles, so you should be careful. It isn't a really long fall, but it's still bruising.

And are you injured? I would suggest leaving if that's the case. You do still have the Escape Rope you started with, correct?
milquetoasthero: (33. but i say)

No, there aren't. It's really pretty safe down there, all things considered. A lot safer than some of the ruins I've been in, and a lot easier to navigate too.

[Of course, uh. Anything's easier to navigate than the tombs in Ashihara.]

I spent a month investigating it and working out the puzzles and phrases, so if you have any more questions about it, I can help. I hope.

All right. I won't spoil anything for you, then.

My friends and I had to travel the world looking for these things called "memory circles." They held memories of... the past in them, hence the name. They were usually located in places people worshiped, like the big cathedral in Naos or the tombs in Ashihara -- since the people of that culture revered their ancestors instead of gods, like the rest of the world. An island called Galpos had ruins in the middle of the jungle, where people made offerings to the dragon Vrtra, and the city I was born in, Regnum, had caverns that were made to worship... I really don't know, exactly. Maybe gods in general, although why it'd have to be all the way down there I can't say. Tenos, a city all the way up north that was leading in the steam industry, had theirs not too far away in something called the Celestial Garden. It was very lovely, but cold. On the opposite side of things, there was one in Garam, an incredibly hot country whose people worshiped the god of the forge, Vulcan, in a massive volcano their town was at the base of.

[... maybe we'd have to see]
