I must say, that was far less difficult than I expected it to be. Are all of the Gym Leaders so easily defeated? I will be sorely disappointed if I'm not forced to actually employ strategic thinking at least once.

Of course, I wouldn't bother posting to the network just to discuss my victory. [yes you would.] I would rather discuss the badges themselves-has anyone analyzed them to any extent? I've heard that they have several odd properties, which lead me to wonder if there was anything about their design that would warrant that.

Well, they're living beings. They don't deserve to be mindlessly paraded around as some sort of koing tool. Raising them with love and care improves battle performance and it makes victory something you really strive for, rather than just an order.

If I'm going to win either way, why does it matter? I have been consistently victorious, and I haven't been mistreating them.

This is a beneficial relationship, though, isn't it? These creatures seem to enjoy battling, and I've noticed that they're stronger if they're trained by humans.

Yes, but they also seem to enjoy getting to know their trainer and working together as a team with an actual bond in place. [ and Rangiku could have sworn that she was the one that mentioned that they're stronger with people, but, she'll refrain from pointing this out, she's not going to be derailed!! ]

They aren't servants. They're partners. This is supposed to be symbiotic, not one sided.

Does a symbiotic relationship necessitate having a great deal of feelings involved? Both parties benefit regardless of how either of them feels about the matter.

When you have the will to protect and love someone, it makes you stronger. It strengthens your resolve and your will to fight no matter what the cost is. [ Now we're going to veer and plow our way into marshmallow fluff territory. ]

No~! Some people are just naturally stronger than others and their bonds with their pokemon make their team super strong! I've won many a battle with level one hundreds and I think it's because I love my pokemon more than they loved their pokemon~! [ despite her overall silliness she's a damn good trainer, surprisingly. ]

You've also figured out a way to either compensate for a Pokemon's potential weaknesses or to enhance a Pokemon's natural strengths. I think that's a bit more important than inane things like love and friendship.

Love and friendship aren't inane. It's because I loved them that I raised them with a way to enhance their natural strengths and their weaknesses, I paid attention out a desire to aid them and myself. It's because we're partners, and, if I end up leaving, I want them to still have the best life possible either under another trainer or in the wild.

They've been here for me when others couldn't be, and, we have a connection that's far too great to be just master and servants. They pressed themselves beyond their usual capacity just for me and that was a decision made out of love and it has never failed to this day.

I'm quite certain that someone who wished to excel at the practice of Pokemon training would also do their best to determine their natural strengths and weaknesses-that, and they would likely be better at it due to the fact that they're not being blinded by the fact that they're a complete bleeding heart.

A bleeding heart? It's more like an interest and a desire to foster a relationship. Those with good synergy, understanding and love for each other can perform better than those who just have understanding, or the science down.
