I must say, that was far less difficult than I expected it to be. Are all of the Gym Leaders so easily defeated? I will be sorely disappointed if I'm not forced to actually employ strategic thinking at least once.

Of course, I wouldn't bother posting to the network just to discuss my victory. [yes you would.] I would rather discuss the badges themselves-has anyone analyzed them to any extent? I've heard that they have several odd properties, which lead me to wonder if there was anything about their design that would warrant that.

Since you have one of the badges, why not investigate it yourself?
It seems a waste to inquire about past research which may be inaccurate if you can stop and take the time to do it yourself.

Think of it in this manner.
Should one man from a different world look upon something, their opinion would differ from that of a man from a world that is completely abstract from their own.
That is to say those who may have investigated these badges already may think of them differently than you would.

There are certain things that Pokemon are unable to do unless you have a certain badge, apparently. For example, if you wish to use a large bird Pokemon as transportation, you won't be able to do so if you don't have the Zephyr Badge.

Either they empower Pokemon to do something they would not normally be able to do, or they remove some sort of block that prevents them from doing something that they logically should be able to accomplish.

Is that right? That does warrant some analyzing. It strikes me as odd that it takes a specific badge for a Pokemon to perform something so elementary such as transporting a human when they can clearly transport themselves without trouble.

What sort of analysis would you suggest? I don't have access to a microscope or that many useful tools here, but anything that doesn't require a lab could be done fairly easily.

Admittedly, that's the biggest snag I'm hitting right here. It would be difficult to analyze the makeup of these badges without that sort of equipment-given that there are people who have been here far longer than I have, I assumed that it was possible that someone here would have been able to set up a lab of some sort.

That would require remaining in place for a while to set one up, I'm afraid. And not too many people, if any, are going to do that in a world like this.

Falkner. Granted, given the general trends I've observed with how Pokemon and native trainer levels seem to scale, the fact that the Gym Leader closest to New Bark Town is the weakest doesn't exactly surprise me.

Well, one thing I've noticed is that they're incredibly shiny, so that must mean that there's something magical that goes on with them! Something beyond the realms of human limits! [ ........Rangiku's curious face turns into a beaming smile at his accomplishment though. ]

And good job taking out that gym leader! They're always so interestingly easy. [ not that she's ever faced one. ]

...Plenty of non-magical things are incredibly shiny. I fail to see what that has to do with anything. There's plenty about them that points to them having some sort of unusual characteristics.

Are they? How disappointing. Then again, they do only use one type.

Their design...? That's an interesting theory. I hadn't considered that.

[Archer tips his head a bit in thought. The badges aren't particularly powerful in his opinion, but they do have some rather odd properties from what he's seen. You can't use Surf outside of battle until you have one, you can't use Fly without one... It doesn't make any sense.]

Congratulations on your victory. The other Gym Leaders are a bit more difficult, but if you continue training you shouldn't have any difficulty. What Pokémon did you use against this Gym Leader?

If nothing else, something about them seems to unlock abilities that Pokemon should be able to use beforehand, but can't for whatever reason. That alone makes them suspect.

I had assumed that was the case. I primarily used my Noctowl, then switched my Muk in towards the end because I was frustrated that Hypnosis kept failing to have any effect on Falkner's Pokemon outside of one instance.
