[you know what the network needs more of?

if you said anything other than 'smug douchebags' then you're wrong. as a bonus, this particular smug douchebag seems to have gotten himself a badge, which he seems to be examining skeptically.]

I must say, that was far less difficult than I expected it to be. Are all of the Gym Leaders so easily defeated? I will be sorely disappointed if I'm not forced to actually employ strategic thinking at least once.

[it was a bit rougher than it could have been, but that was only because Hypnosis kept failing to effect Falkner's Pokemon. his luck...]

Of course, I wouldn't bother posting to the network just to discuss my victory. [yes you would.] I would rather discuss the badges themselves-has anyone analyzed them to any extent? I've heard that they have several odd properties, which lead me to wonder if there was anything about their design that would warrant that.

Whether or not that rumor has any bearing in reality, the fact of the matter is that the League clearly has a lot of power here. Maybe enough to actually affect the captured Pokemon. We don't really know what the Pokeballs do to captured Pokemon. There could be a... hypnotic suggestion, or the like, telling them not to use certain moves for trainers which don't have the proper badges.

Exactly. And we can't say where it begins or ends. Personally, I'd start studying the pokeballs before the badges, or concurrently with them.

That's probably the best plan, yes. Researching them both and any effects they might have in conjunction. But I really doubt the laboratory in New Bark is set up for those kind of tests.

... Where do the Poke balls come from?

Well, they have to be made somewhere, right? Maybe we can find some answers at the source.
