I must say, that was far less difficult than I expected it to be. Are all of the Gym Leaders so easily defeated? I will be sorely disappointed if I'm not forced to actually employ strategic thinking at least once.

Of course, I wouldn't bother posting to the network just to discuss my victory. [yes you would.] I would rather discuss the badges themselves-has anyone analyzed them to any extent? I've heard that they have several odd properties, which lead me to wonder if there was anything about their design that would warrant that.

The fact that they are somewhat aesthetically pleasing has not escaped my notice, but I fail to see how that impacts anything.

No one would really want the badges if they didn't look nice, right? I doubt they hold any magicial powers or anything.

I'm sure that some people would want them. They're status symbols, after all-proof that you defeated the trainers who were supposedly competent enough to get their own gyms. The fact that they're aesthetically pleasing is simply a bonus.

Furthermore, if there's nothing inherently special about them, explain why you can't ride a flying Pokemon until you have a certain badge, but you can ride a ground-based Pokemon without any requirements.

Ohhh? I would say that it's to prove to your Pokemon that you've got enough experience to be able to ride them!

Believe me, if I were a bird, I would be pretty high-maintenance on who gets to ride me and who doesn't.

Why wouldn't ground-based Pokemon be the same way, then? It takes a great deal of training to ride a horse correctly under normal circumstances, but you can get on a Rapidash and ride with no prior experience necessary.

You can't train the wind to do whatever you want since it's unpredictable. It's only natural that Pokemon who ride on the ground would be easier to control.

They're birds. I'm sure they're as good at adjusting to changes in the wind as ground-based Pokemon are at adjusting to sudden changes in road conditions.

Storms aren't the only things that can be unpredictable and dangerous. Like I said, other Pokemon would have difficulty with rough terrain.
