14 [VIDEO/ACTION FOR ECRUTEAK] BACKDATED TO THE 11TH
[It's both Kayneth's birthday and anniversary today, and what a lucky boy he is for that! Really, though, he wasn't particularly looking forward to it. It... gave him too much to think about that he didn't necessarily want to be thinking about. He had been here for two years.
Two years, and he wasn't any closer to finding a way to ensure that he could make sure everything went right back home. In fact, given everything that he'd experienced, he honestly felt further away from that goal than ever. There were just too many questions --- about this world, about Pokemon... about his future, about himself, and it seemed as though they simply kept multiplying to an exponential extent the longer he spent in this world.
It was difficult, for someone who had barely questioned anything before, and he had every intention of throwing up something vaguely philosophical and tinged with melancholy onto the network today, after he'd had some time to collect his thoughts.
...nevertheless, like all well laid plans, that idea was completely shattered the moment he walked outside to get a breath of fresh air.]
VIDEO;
[The video reveals... someone's yard? Which has... seen better days, really. There are, curiously enough, very shallow holes dug all around the house --- and the camera moves to show exactly what the extent of the damage is.
Someone was very determined about destroying this guy's lawn, that's for sure.
...of course, after a pan over the holes, there is a very angry voice that can be rather positively identified as Kayneth Archibald El-Melloi.]
I'm quite certain I know who did this, but all the same --- I expect you to own up to this.
What made you think this was acceptable in any reality?

[It might not be as satisfying as destroying her with magic, but it's something...]
...
[He does crack a bitter smile after thinking a bit.]
Well, perhaps it would be best to find out just how unfortunate our local law enforcement is, wouldn't it?
[...okay this discussion is getting sad, let's focus on something positive!!]
Aside from ah...that, have you been enjoying your birthday? I sent you a little something; I do hope it arrived in time.
[He really ought to just catch a Flying type to use for deliveries instead of relying on carrier Pidgeys, he thinks to himself.
The gift in question is a pocket watch with a fancy exterior with an interior painting depiction of the Snivy line. Dist has a feeling Kayneth likes these Pokemon. Juuuust a hunch.]
[...yeah
yeah let's]
Anyway, yes, let's stop talking about that because it's giving me a headache. And yes, I actually did! I deeply appreciate it, truly --- the craftsmanship is remarkable.
[and yes.
he fuckin loves the snivy line.]
[He's still going to feel smug for being a good present selector though!!]
Are you planning on treating yourself to anything exciting tonight?
[you are such a good gift-giver dist]
Well, certain events have effectively made my decision for me --- I am going to be having a very stiff drink.
[Thank you! He tries!]
I can't say I blame you. Ecruteak's drinks are quite nice though- I tried a couple when I visited in March.
...and fortune telling? Really?
Oh, yes, they certainly are. I like that it's not terribly difficult to find traditional spirits, for one.
Indeed, I would say that creating robots may be even more niche than creating clocks so I don't feel particularly terrible about being more skilled in that field. And of course, you know how important aesthetics are to me.
[Gotta stay fab.]
Yes, unfortunately. [He sighs.] Fortune tellers seem to be popping up everywhere around here. Honestly, of all the things to waste your time and money on...but many poor fools buy into that nonsense.
[It reminds him too much of the Score, and he's rarely one to bind himself to what others say is best for him.]
Worst of all, the vast majority of them seem to be scammers making a mockery of real magical skill.
Ah, you definitely have that right. Though now you have me curious...how often is your brand of magic used in dealing with the future?
Hm... well, prophecy is more of a lost art than anything, I'm afraid. I wouldn't be surprised if there are some people gifted with it out there, but that sort of thing tends to be outside the realm of what modern magic can accomplish.
[Why make normal robots when you can put flowers and helicopters on them??]
I see. It is similar to my world, then. No one can predict the future per se, but specialized individuals can read predictions left behind by a prophet of old. I don't see much fun in it myself. Too many people allow themselves to be bound by what their readings say.
No, I certainly understand that. Admittedly, the prophecies of old in my world had an unfortunate tendency to come true whether you liked it or not... though, I admit, I have to wonder how much of that is simply exaggerated for the sake of a good story.
