003 [VIDEO]

[you know what the network needs more of?

if you said anything other than 'smug douchebags' then you're wrong. as a bonus, this particular smug douchebag seems to have gotten himself a badge, which he seems to be examining skeptically.]

I must say, that was far less difficult than I expected it to be. Are all of the Gym Leaders so easily defeated? I will be sorely disappointed if I'm not forced to actually employ strategic thinking at least once.

[it was a bit rougher than it could have been, but that was only because Hypnosis kept failing to effect Falkner's Pokemon. his luck...]

Of course, I wouldn't bother posting to the network just to discuss my victory. [yes you would.] I would rather discuss the badges themselves-has anyone analyzed them to any extent? I've heard that they have several odd properties, which lead me to wonder if there was anything about their design that would warrant that.

[ It's not even an 8th of BLEACH size. It's barely a level below Yoruichi, who is sort of larger than normal. At least they look like they don't defy physics. ]

Yeah. Most people only seem to care for winning, not how they get there or the results~!

I know. The worst part is, there seems to be no real soul or zest for the pokemon they're raising and training. It's just winning, winning, winning.

I didn't mean it like that. I meant it like, if you don't know the pokemon's personality, you can't make a plan that best suits it.

I was referring to bonding and growing through that so you can continue to get stronger as you fight, not clinically assessing their personality for the sole purpose of winning. But, at least it's better than what the others are doing.

What's your philosophy about pokemon?

[ ....This conversation might not end well. ]

Well, they're living beings. They don't deserve to be mindlessly paraded around as some sort of koing tool. Raising them with love and care improves battle performance and it makes victory something you really strive for, rather than just an order.

[ ...Oh. This is going to be good. ]

[ For the very first time, Rangiku's face tenses up. She actually looks serious.

And she will now start boarding her incredibly high horse. ]

Oh, so you're one of those types.

[personal profile] conduit 2012-08-25 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
You're one of those type of people that actually do nothing but look at the surface on how to achieve victory. These things devote every moment of their life to you! The least you can do is try to connect with them!
conduit: (03. Girl's talk shit? I don't care!)

[personal profile] conduit 2012-08-28 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course they wouldn't, but shouldn't you reciprocate something similar since they're devoting their life to you? If you leave, I think they'll understand. You can't really control what goes on in Johto!

[personal profile] conduit 2012-09-01 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
But they're devoting the rest of your life to you! They instantly switch their entire natural progression to serve you. And you don't think you should even try to connect with them on an emotional level?
conduit: (04. I'm not taking off my underwear!!)

[personal profile] conduit 2012-09-04 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, but they also seem to enjoy getting to know their trainer and working together as a team with an actual bond in place. [ and Rangiku could have sworn that she was the one that mentioned that they're stronger with people, but, she'll refrain from pointing this out, she's not going to be derailed!! ]
conduit: (15. Lame!)

[personal profile] conduit 2012-09-07 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[ IT'S OKAY. THIS THREAD IS LONG. SOME DETAILS WERE MEANT TO BE LOST ALONG THE WAY. ]

Is that your response to everything about relationships? [ It's a two way street bro!!!!! Insert generic pokemon are friends speech we've heard a thousand times before. ]

They aren't servants. They're partners. This is supposed to be symbiotic, not one sided.
